The delegation led by the Minister of Energy of Mongolia, Tserenpil Davaasuren, who visited Azerbaijan at the invitation of the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, has been at the Ministry of Energy. The Minister of Energy of Mongolia mentioned that this visit and meetings were an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in energy sector, as well as in the other areas. It was noted that the oil and gas sector in Mongolia is under development and there is a great potential for cooperation in this field. Mongolia is interested in applying the practice of Azerbaijan as an oil and gas country and wishes their students to study at Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.

The Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan stated that high-level relations between the two countries, both at the presidential level and within the international organizations, were boosting the energy development. For this purpose, Azerbaijan is ready to share its experience and cooperate in the fields of mutual interest. The Minister believes that the signing of the “Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the energy field between the Ministry of Energy of Mongolia and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan” will contribute to this process in the future.

At the meeting, it was also mentioned that Mongolian students would be provided with the necessary support to study at the relevant high school in Azerbaijan. Moreover, we highly appreciate that Mongolia declined the chairmanship of the Energy Charter Conference in 2020 in favor of Azerbaijan. Cooperation issues were discussed in this regard. The current state of energy sector in both countries, the future targets and cooperation perspectives in non-oil sector were also discussed at the meeting.
