Today is the memorial day for late Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev
Three years have passed since the death of Natig Aliyev, well-known public figure, honored engineer with the Order Of Glory (Shohrat), president of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Natig Aliyev was born in 1947 in Baku. In 1970, he graduated from the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemical Institute named after Azizbeyov and worked as a Drilling Technician, Geology Technician, Engineering Geologist, Head of the Department at the complex marine geology- exploration contour in the "Azerdenizneftkeshfiyyat" trust of the "Caspian Oil Gas Industry" All-Union Production Unit.
He served as Chairman of Board of Directors and President of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic, the Chairman of the State Committee for Development of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC Co) and the President of Oil Workers Congress of Azerbaijan in 1993-2005. During Natig Aliyev's presidency of the State Oil Company, 24 important contracts were signed.
Natig Aliyev, who served as Minister of Industry and Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2005-2013, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 2013 to the end of his life, made great contributions to the implementation of energy policy in the country, ensuring energy security and turning Azerbaijan into one of the leading energy centres of the region.
He authored more than 100 scientific publications on the search and exploration of oil and gas fields in the Caspian Sea, and various issues of the energy sector.
Natig Aliyev has been awarded with Shohrat Order and "Meritted Engineer" honorary title of the Republic of Azerbaijan due to service in development of oil industry, "Order of the Glory of Georgia, Legion d’Honneur of France, the Order of Kormet of Kazakhstan and a number of orders and medals.
Natig Aliyev will always live in the hearts of people. May his soul rest in peace!
