Next Board Meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy

The next Board Meeting in videoconference format was held under the chairmanship of Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, with the participation of structural units and agencies of the Ministry. At the meeting, discussions were held on the development of sub-legislative acts arising from the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan on "Efficient Use of Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency" and on the “Use of Renewable Energy Sources in Power Generation".

Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the Board Parviz Shahbazov noted that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev had set important tasks in the development of the energy sector, renewable energy and energy efficiency, drawing attention to the implementation of tasks in this direction. The agenda of the meeting included discussions on the implementation of the tasks arising from the relevant decrees and orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Cabinet of Ministers on the application of two new legislative acts adopted in the field of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. It was noted that two action plans were approved in order to ensure the implementation of these tasks issued by the relevant orders of the Ministry of Energy and 21 working groups were established in general.

Then, the reports were made by the Head of the Department of Electric Power Engineering Alasgar Hasanov and other co-rapporteurs on the measures taken to develop sub-legislative acts arising from the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Efficient Use of Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency". It was noted that 16 working groups have been established in this direction and work is underway to study international experience in the development of 13 rules, including the establishment of the Energy Efficiency Fund. At the same time, information was provided on the cooperation with international organizations and financial institutions in relevant areas.

Informing about the current status of drafting secondary legislative acts arising from the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the “Use of Renewable Energy Sources in Power Generation", the Head of Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency Tabriz Ammayev noted that 5 working groups have been established to implement the action plan in this direction. It was noted that the draft regulations on the selection of electricity producers in the area of renewable energy sources and the application of the mechanism of support for active consumers were prepared with the involvement of an international consulting company. It was brought to the attention that the procedure on the drafting regulations of the information system on renewable energy sources and certificate of origin for the generation of electricity from renewable sources  has been underway.

 At the Board Meeting, the information was provided on the steps taken to prepare proposals to bring the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan, acts of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, normative legal acts of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Energy in line with the newly adopted laws.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Board Parviz Shahbazov gave relevant instructions to the structural units and subordinate bodies of the Ministry on the implementation of the work to be done and upcoming tasks, control of the execution status and duration of documents, observance of executive discipline.
