Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Azerbaijan Vasile Soare. 

The minister congratulated the ambassador on his new appointment and wished him success in his activities. The relations of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania, as well as existing cooperation in the field of energy were touched upon at the meeting. The importance of the Southern Gas Corridor project in the development of this cooperation was emphasized. It was talked about the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe, as well as the potential opportunities of the Bulgarian-Romanian interconnector and the BRUA project for the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor in the future. Romania's participation in the meetings of the Advisory Council of the Southern Gas Corridor and its support for the project and its further expansion were highly appreciated.

During the meeting, sides discussed close cooperation with Romania in trade in crude oil, petroleum products and petrochemical products. The information was provided on the importance of the transition to renewable energy sources, reforms carried out in our country in this direction, in particular, the country's offshore wind energy potential, plans for the production of electricity and “green hydrogen” at the expense of this resource. The sides exchanged views on prospects for expanding the existing cooperation between the two countries in the field of “green energy”.
