Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, who is on a visit to Georgia, has met with the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

High-level relations, political dialogue and successful energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia were emphasized at the meeting. Joint implementation of global energy projects and sustainable contributions to Georgia's energy security were assessed as an indicator of strategic partnership relations. The projects and new opportunities for the development of energy cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats were evaluated.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili called Azerbaijan a reliable strategic partner and a country that plays a key role in Georgia's energy supply. He expressed his support for cooperation on energy projects that will serve stability and development in the region.

The Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev attached special importance to the comprehensive development of relations with Georgia and drew attention to the opportunities to deepen energy cooperation.

At the meeting, the work done to increase the transmission capacity of the energy systems of Azerbaijan and Georgia, to ensure the transportation of electricity exported from Azerbaijan to Turkey and European countries was reviewed.  The issues arising from the implementation of the Black Sea submarine power and digital connectivity project, which will unite Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary, were discussed and it was noted that this project will open a new page in the relations between our countries.

During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on other areas of mutual interest in bilateral relations, as well as the situation in global energy markets.
