Minister of Energy receives new Ambassador of the UK to Azerbaijan

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Fergus Auld. Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment, the Minister expressed confidence that during his activity he would make a positive contribution to the future development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UK.

During the meeting, the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation between the two countries for the expansion of mutual relations, including the development of relations in the field of energy were highlighted. The progress of the implementation of the protocol on the 5th meeting of the commission and the issues related to the next meeting were discussed.

The current status of the cooperation in the field of development of green energy with bp, which has a special place as a strategic partner and leading investor in the oil and gas sector in our country, was discussed. Information was provided about increasing natural gas exports from Azerbaijan to Europe, onshore and offshore renewable energy potential in our country, the sides exchanged views on potential cooperation opportunities on decarbonization, wind and solar energy, green hydrogen and green power exports, energy efficiency and other areas.
