Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland James Sharp. Bilateral relations, current cooperation in the field of energy and future prospects were discussed at the meeting.

The sides discussed the implementation of the protocol of the 4th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and exchanged views on the organization of coordination of the implementation of the measures envisaged in the protocol. The importance of the activity of the British Chamber of Commerce, which started its activity in May this year, in the expansion of economic relations between the two countries was emphasized.

The minister said that relations between the two countries were developing successfully in all directions, including in the energy sector and the existing cooperation entered a new stage of development in line with the challenges of the global energy sector. The next steps to be taken were discussed in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on Clean Energy Transition between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of International Trade of the United Kingdom, as well as  the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in large-scale de-carbonized and integrated energy and transport systems and the Implementation Agreement on cooperation in the evaluation and implementation of a project to build a 240 MW solar power plant in the Zangilan/Jabrayil region.

A number of other issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
