Minister of Energy discussed cooperation on gas supply with Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Industry
Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with Nikola Stoyanov, Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Industry who is on a visit to our country. During the meeting, issues related to the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria, as well as bilateral energy cooperation were discussed.
Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said that the friendship and partnership relations with Bulgaria have deepened by energy cooperation, and due to the non-readiness of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), Azerbaijan has supplied 555 million cubic meters of natural gas to this country since last year. The Minister noted that daily gas supplies to Bulgaria increased to 2.6 million cubic meters from July this year and gas exports were projected to be about 600 million cubic meters by the end of the year.
At the meeting, it was noted that the commercial launch of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) is scheduled for October, and the pipeline will contribute to the energy supply of Bulgaria and South-Eastern Europe in general. During the conversation, the opportunities for additional gas supplies to Bulgaria as a part of the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor project were also reviewed.
Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov emphasized that Azerbaijan has always been a reliable partner and expressed his country's interest in cooperation at the stage of TAP expansion.
The sides also exchanged views on Azerbaijan's plans for the production and export of electricity and hydrogen from the wind power potential of the Caspian Sea and the export opportunities of green energy to Europe, as well as cooperation opportunities in other areas in the field of energy.
