According to operational data on electricity over January-June 2021, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 2.278,0 billion kWh, exports - 99.01 million kWh, and imports - 12.1 million kWh in June. In comparison with the same period in 2020, electricity production in June increased by 122.8 million kWh, import by 2.9 million kWh while exports increased by 0.4  million kWh.

In January-June of the current year, electricity production in the country increased by 254.2 million kWh in comparison with the same period last year and amounted to 13.206 billion kWh.

During the reporting period, electricity generation at TPPs increased by 161.7 mln kWh reaching to 12.247,5  billion kWh, at HPPs increased by 92.5 mln kWh reaching to 772.5 mln kWh, and at other sources (WPP, SPP and Solid household waste plant) amounted to 186.0mln kWh in comparison with January-June last year. 47.1 mln kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 26.2 mln kWh at SPPs, and 112.7 mln kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant.

In the first half of 2021 electricity generation made up 11.829,2 billion kWh on "Azerenergy" OJSC (11.153,0 billion kWh at TPPs, 676.2 mln kWh at HPPs), 211.0 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (99.9 mln kWh at TPPs, 87.1 mln kWh at HPPs, 24.0 mln kWh at SPP), and  1.131,1 billion kWh on Independent PPs).

During this period, electricity exports increased by 48.2 mln kWh compared to the same period in 2020, amounting to 669.0 mln kWh. Electricity imports increased by 17.4 mln kWh compared to the same period last year, amounting to 88.9 mln kWh.
