The next meeting of the Commission established by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 1673 dated 5 December 2019 on additional measures for the implementation of projects in the field of use of renewable energy sources was held in the updated version.

Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Commission, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov spoke about the important tasks set before the Commission in connection with the execution of the order.

The report on the work done over the past period and the results obtained from the previous meeting of the commission by the Director of AREA Javid Abdullayev was heard. Information on the determination of renewable energy source areas, allocation of relevant land plots, analyzes of selected solar and wind potential areas, signing of land lease agreements related to the construction of the Garadagh HPP, agreement on water areas to be allocated in the Caspian Sea for offshore wind energy projects, as well as information about the integration of green energy into the electricity network, network strengthening and other studies were brought to attention.

Then a presentation on the progress of the research on hydrogen production using renewable energy sources was made, and the results of the Low Carbon Hydrogen Market Research prepared with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development were presented.

The main parameters of the new investment agreement to be signed with Masdar were also reported. Discussions were held on the roadmap prepared by the Secretariat to address issues raised by investor companies.

At the end, measures to be taken before the next meeting on current issues arising from the activities of the commission were discussed, relevant decisions were made taking into account opinions and proposals.

Representatives from the Ministries of Energy, Economy, Finance, Justice, Ecology and Natural Resources, Emergency Situations, Defence, Agriculture, Digital Development and Transport, the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, the Central Bank, AREA, ANAMA, Azerenergy OJSC and Azerishig OJSC attended the meeting.
