At the event held on October 29, the Eastern Partnership countries` expectations on energy cooperation priorities for the period after 2020, issues related to the development of renewable energy and liquefied natural gas fields were discussed.
At the meeting, going beyond the event agenda and giving a provocative speech, the Armenian representative made false and dishonest statements about the Armenian-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, tried to deceive the participants, justify the aggressive policy of Armenia and introduce this country as a victim.
The moderator of the panel, Ms. Anne-Charlotte Bournoville of the Department of international Relations and Enlargement of the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission, warned that the purpose of the event is to bring together energy experts, to discuss the issues envisaged in the agenda, and noted that there is no platform for discussion of conflicts.
Acting Head of the Department of the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, Otel Huseynov strongly protested against the attempts of the Armenian side to spread false information before the start of his speech in accordance with the agenda of the event and called the organizers to ignore such provocations. He also informed the participants of the event about the intensive shooting of the civilian settlements, socio-cultural and infrastructure facilities of Azerbaijan, including the strategically important energy infrastructure by the occupying Armenian armed forces starting from September 27 this year. He brought to the attention of the participants of the event that as a result of the shooting cities and villages far from front line with ballistic missiles, prohibited weapons, there were numerous casualties and injuries among the civilians, including underage children, as well as the energy infrastructure of Azerbaijan.
Otel Huseynov also told the organizers and participants that such provocative speeches of the Armenian side hampered the course of the event and the discussion of the agenda.
