An Azerbaijan-Greece Business Forum was held in Athens as part of the 6th meeting of the Joint Commission on the Economic, Industrial and Technological Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Hellenic Republic. Organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO) and Enterprise Greece, the forum brought together the companies from both countries.

Addressing the forum, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov stated that at a time when global economic relations and supply chains are being reshaped and the importance of diversified energy and transport connectivity is increasing, the new realities that have emerged in the South Caucasus under the leadership of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev are opening up broad opportunities for regional cooperation, trade and investment. It was noted that Azerbaijan’s position as a reliable partner, together with the policies pursued to diversify the economy and develop energy and transport connectivity, logistics and digital infrastructure, has further strengthened the country’s investment attractiveness. It was highlighted that the non-oil and gas sector accounts for more than 70% of GDP and that over USD 350 billion has been invested in Azerbaijan’s economy over the past 20 years.

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan is interested not only in attracting capital, but also in establishing long-term investment partnerships that bring new technologies, knowledge and expertise and expand production and export capacities. Energy, transport and logistics, the digital economy, industry and manufacturing, agriculture, food processing and tourism were presented as promising areas of cooperation for Greek businesses. Attention was also drawn to opportunities to expand the energy partnership established through the Southern Gas Corridor into green energy and new energy connectivity.

Highlighting the growing importance of the Middle Corridor in transport and logistics, it was noted that combining Azerbaijan’s strategic location with Greece’s port and maritime capabilities could enhance East-West connectivity and provide broader access to Mediterranean and European markets. Cooperation prospects in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, data centres, digital infrastructure, industry and manufacturing were also considered. The Alat Free Economic Zone, industrial parks and modern logistics infrastructure were presented as favourable opportunities for Greek companies to establish production in Azerbaijan and gain access to broader regional markets.

Greek business circles were invited to actively explore Azerbaijan’s investment opportunities, participate in the implementation of new projects and establish long-term partnerships. The sides expressed confidence that the forum would contribute to increasing mutual investment and enriching Azerbaijan-Greece economic cooperation with concrete projects.

The forum continued with B2B meetings between companies.
