Energy Minister highlights Azerbaijan’s energy infrastructure priorities at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum

As part of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov addressed the Energy Infrastructure panel, outlining Azerbaijan’s energy priorities for the coming decade and investment opportunities for the private sector.

It was noted that strengthening energy security, developing oil and gas infrastructure, expanding renewable energy, modernising power grids, deploying energy storage systems and developing regional energy interconnections are among the key priorities. While maintaining Azerbaijan’s role as a reliable oil and gas supplier, the importance of developing new oil and gas fields, modernising existing infrastructure and expanding the Southern Gas Corridor was also emphasised.

It was stated that approximately 8 GW of renewable energy capacity is planned to be developed by 2032. At the same time, green energy corridors are being developed to connect the energy potential of the Caspian region and Central Asia with the markets of Türkiye and Europe.

The Minister identified renewable energy, offshore wind energy in the Caspian Sea, energy storage, power grids, digitalisation, energy efficiency and regional energy corridors as promising areas for private-sector investment.

“We see the private sector not merely as a source of investment, but as a long-term partner bringing new technologies, innovation and international expertise. Our goal is to build modern energy infrastructure that connects diverse energy sources and markets,” the Minister said.
