Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Mohamed Jameel Al-Ramahi, CEO of Masdar.

During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction regarding the successful partnership with Masdar in the fields of solar and wind energy. The sides reviewed the implementation status of solar energy projects with a total capacity of 760 MW in Bilasuvar and Neftchala, as well as wind energy projects with a capacity of more than 200 MW in the Absheron and Garadagh districts. They also highly appreciated the close cooperation between the government and the company in implementing the projects. It was agreed to speed up the work within the project to ensure the commissioning of the 445 MW Bilasuvar solar power plant (SPP) by the end of the year.

Azerbaijan's regional energy connectivity initiatives were also discussed during the conversation. The sides particularly noted that the successful implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project has made a significant contribution to Europe's energy security. The two exchanged views on the prospects of new interconnector projects for the electricity export, including green energy, to Europe. It was noted that the growth in electricity demand in the global energy landscape necessitates the creation of new generation and transmission capacities. In this context, Azerbaijan's implementation of projects for energy supply of both regional export routes and domestic demand, including new directions such as artificial intelligence and data centers, was assessed as a strategic priority.

The meeting highlighted the regional significance of the projects implemented and planned by Masdar in Azerbaijan. The sides expressed their intention to further expand the partnership in the future.
