An Attestation was held for the Appointment of an Energy Manager at Salyan Oil Operating Company

In accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Efficient Use of Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency, an attestation was held for the appointment of an energy manager at Salyan Oil Limited operating company.

Representatives from the Ministry of Energy, SOCAR Head Office, SOCAR Upstream Management International LLC, GL group of companies and Salyan Oil Operating Company visited oil and gas production areas and discussed measures to be taken to organize the functions of energy manager and increase energy efficiency at the enterprise.

It should be noted that similar attestations for the appointment of energy managers have previously been held at a number of SOCAR enterprises and departments, including the Neftqaztikinti Trust, Kompleks Qazma Ishleri Trust, Azerigas Production Union, Azneft Production Union, the Department of Transport, the Gas Export Department, the Social Development Department, Binagadi Oil Company, as well as the Azerkimya Production Union, Gas Processing Plant, Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, Methanol and Urea plants.

According to subparagraph 8.1.2 of the Law on Efficient Use of Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency, the appointment of an energy manager is required for enterprises with an annual energy consumption of more than 1,000 tons of oil equivalent (TOE), as well as for non-residential buildings with a construction area of at least 10,000 square meters or an annual energy consumption exceeding 250 TOE. Administrative responsibility has been defined in accordance with Article 279.0.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Azerbaijan for failure to appoint an energy manager.
