The Expansion of Energy Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye was discussed
A meeting was held between Deputy Energy Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Orkhan Zeynalov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Ayşe Berris Ekinci.
The successful development of existing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of oil, gas, and electricity was highly appreciated at the meeting. Information was provided about four energy interconnector projects being implemented with the participation of Azerbaijan, and the significance of these projects for the energy sustainability of both the country and the region was emphasized. In this context, the implementation of projects related to the export of green energy from Nakhchivan and other regions of Azerbaijan to Türkiye was reviewed.
It was also noted that successful initiatives such as the Azerbaijan–Türkiye Energy Forum, the Shafag-Asiman project, the Iğdır–Nakhchivan gas pipeline, and the export of Azerbaijani gas to Syria have raised the energy partnership between the two countries to a new level.
The sides also exchanged views on the Clean Energy Center of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Türkiye’s candidacy to host COP31, and other promising areas of cooperation.
