Next steps on expanding energy cooperation with Moldova were discussed
Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with a delegation led by Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea, who is visiting Azerbaijan.
The sides exchanged views on issues of current and prospective energy cooperation between two countries. Steps to be taken to expand mutual relations in the fields of energy efficiency, promotion of renewable energy sources, and energy regulation were discussed.
During the meeting, Energy Minister provided information on the work done in Azerbaijan in the fields of natural gas and renewable energy, especially the initiatives taken to expand the Southern Gas Corridor and export green energy to Europe. They talked about the Green Energy Corridor implemented between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary, and touched upon the possibilities of further cooperation in this direction.
Minister Vladimir Bolea spoke about priority areas of cooperation in a number of areas, including natural gas supply. The importance of long-term contracts in gas supply in terms of energy security and sustainability was emphasized. Detailed information was given on investment-based cooperation opportunities in the fields of bioenergy and biogas in Moldova, existing green powers in the country, renewable energy auctions carried out, and the participation opportunities of Azerbaijani companies in projects to be implemented in these areas.
