Commemorative event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the January 20 Tragedy was held at the Ministry of Energy
The Ministry of Energy held an event commemorating the 35th anniversary of the January 20 Tragedy, which was engraved in the history of Azerbaijan as the pinnacle of the national liberation movement of our people for freedom and independence.
Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev declared the event open and stressed that the Bloody January was both a big tragedy and unparalleled heroic page for our people, and at his suggestion, the memory of our martyrs who gave their lives for the freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Then, the speech on the events of January 20 was heard. It was noted that the first political and legal assessment of the bloody incident that befell the Azerbaijani people was given by national leader Heydar Aliyev, who immediately after the tragedy came to the Permanent Representation Office of Azerbaijan in Moscow and boldly declared that this act was completely contrary to democracy and humanism. It was emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continues the political path of the Great Leader, has always paid special attention to perpetuating the memory of martyrs and solving the social problems of martyr families. It was noted that with the victory gained as a result under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the courage of our army, the martyrs of January 20 were also avenged.
The memorial ceremony ended with a video about the Bloody January Tragedy.
