Green energy production in the country nearly doubled last year

According to operational data for 2024, total electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 28 394.1 million kWh last year.

During 12 months, electricity production at TPPs amounted to 24 543.2 million kWh, at HPPs to 3011.0 million kWh, and on other sources to 839.9 million kWh. 51.1 million kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 556.3 million kWh at SPPs, and 232.5 million kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant.

Thus, the production of electricity from green energy sources during 2024 compared to 2023 nearly increased by 1728.7 million kWh and amounted 3850.9 million kWh.

During the reporting period, electricity generation made up 25 138.6 mln kWh on Azerenergy OJSC (22 322.9 mln kWh at TPPs, 2815.7 mln kWh at HPPs), 490.4 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (253.4 mln kWh at TPPs, 176.2 mln kWh at HPPs, 60.8 mln kWh at SPP), 38.5 mln kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC, and 2726.6 mln kWh on Independent PPs).

During this period, electricity exports were 1397.5 mln kWh while imports were 170.5 mln kWh.

It should be noted that the electricity generation in the republic in December 2024 amounted to 2466.4 million kWh. During the reporting period, exports of electricity production amounted to 142.3 million kWh, imports to 10.6 million kWh.
