Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Energy Kamal Abbasov delivered a speech at the 26th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) held in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Deputy Minister said that our country plays an important role in the global energy market based on its rich natural gas resources and strategic position. Azerbaijan's natural gas is currently being imported by 12 countries, reflecting the growing demand for the country's energy resources. The successes of the recently concluded COP29 conference in Baku were highlighted. The panel discussions organized by GECF during the conference, which underscored the significance of natural gas in the sustainable energy transition, were also touched upon.

In conclusion, it was decided to hold the 27th Ministerial Meeting in Doha, the capital of Qatar in the last quarter of 2025.

It should be reminded that since 2015, Azerbaijan has been participating in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum as an observer.
