Minister of Energy discussed the development of green energy with his Latvian counterpart
Within COP29, a meeting was held between Minister of energy Parviz Shahbazov and Latvia's Minister of Climate and Energy Kaspars Melnis.
At the meeting, discussions were held on the development course in the field of renewable energy in both countries. They discussed the COP29 Presidency's energy initiatives and the importance of Azerbaijan's green energy production and export projects for energy security and energy transition across a wide geography. It was stated that the share of renewable energy in installed power capacity through wind and solar energy projects will increase to 33% by 2027 and to 35.5% by 2030. This indicates a high development dynamic in the country's green energy sector. During the meeting, there was also an extensive exchange of views on green energy and green gas supply from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to Europe and Türkiye, as well as the implementation of energy storage systems to increase the sustainability of renewable energy. Latvia shared its experience in renewable energy, and perspectives for cooperation in the energy sector were evaluated.
