A press conference was held at the COP29 event with the participation of Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov.

Dear colleagues,
Distinguished guests,
Dear media representatives!

I cordially welcome all of you on the Energy Day held within the COP29, hosted by Azerbaijan. Through this international press conference, we are pleased to share with you our views on the energy initiatives of COP29, the green energy projects implemented by Azerbaijan and the importance of these initiatives in the global energy transition.
Today we announced the 3 main energy initiative, which consists of 5 components on the COP platform. The first initiative is the Green Energy Pledge, which is based entirely on Azerbaijani experience and promotes the creation of green energy corridors, as well as green energy zones. The second initiative is COP29 Global Energy Storage and Grids Pledge, which aims to increase global energy storage capacity by 2030 by sixfold to 1500 GW and add 90 million km of networks by 2040. Our third initiative is the COP29 Hydrogen Declaration.
These initiatives not only elevate Azerbaijan to a leading position in the development and export of renewable energy, but also create unique opportunities to accelerate the development of clean energy on a global scale through large-scale transmission, coordination of remote potential energy sources with consumer centers, ensuring a balance between energy supply and demand, and integrating large volumes of green energy into the grid. COP29 calls on each of us to join these commitments, strengthen our energy transition and climate action, and unite in the name of building a sustainable future for our world.
COP29 was accompanied by remarkable successes reflecting Azerbaijan's commitment to the green energy transition. In green energy zone - East Zangezur, we laid the foundation for the first utility-scale solar energy and the largest foreign direct investment project, a 240 MW plant with bp. We held the 9th Ministerial Meeting on the Caspian-European Green Energy Corridor and got acquainted with the preliminary results of the feasibility study of the project. At the same time, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed an Intergovernmental Agreement on strategic partnership in the development and transmission of green energy, and adopted documents ensuring Saudi Arabia's accession to this trilateral project as an important partner. In addition, 6 contracts were signed with 6 Chinese companies, Azerbaijan announced its hydrogen strategy, and we signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of energy planning in the context of the Paris Agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Today we will open the ECO Clean Energy Center. And tomorrow a final decision will be made on the financing of two 760 MW solar power plants. And on 21 November, the results of the first auction on a 100 MW solar power plant will be announced.
All this demonstrates Azerbaijan's perseverance in the energy sector and its commitment to global solidarity for the sake of a green future. The COP29 initiatives are important steps aimed at contributing to the sustainable energy future not only of our country, but of the whole world. We express our deep gratitude to everyone who joined us on this path.
