Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan met with Director General of IAEA and Kazakh counterpart in Rome

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, who is on a visit to Italy, held a number of bilateral meetings.

At the meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi, successful cooperation of Azerbaijan with the agency in various directions was discussed. Azerbaijan's regional and international projects related to renewable energy and diversification of energy supplies were discussed. In the context of our country's green energy transition plans, the cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and IAEA in the field of energy planning were discussed. The agency's support for cooperation to explore the possibilities of using nuclear energy in Azerbaijan was expressed. The sides also exchanged views on the Financing Low Carbon Technology, Including Nuclear Energy event to be held within the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

At the meeting with the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasaddam Satkaliyev, discussions were held on topical issues of energy cooperation of the two countries, the events held within the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor and the COP. During the COP, the Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Kazakhstan and Republic of Uzbekistan on Strategic Partnership in the Development and Transmission of Green Energy, the work carried out on the project of connecting the energy systems of the three countries, including establishing of a joint venture in Baku, determining the stakes of national energy companies in the joint venture and issues arising out of the feasibility study of the project were reviewed. They also exchanged views on Kazakhstan's activities in the field of nuclear energy and cooperation in exchange of experience in this regard.
