Minister of Energy held several meetings in Brazil
Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil Alexandre Silveira, Minister of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, and CEO of the Global Renewables Alliance Bruce Douglas in Foz do Iguacu.
At the meeting withMinister of Mines and Energy of Brazil Alexandre Silveira, it was noted that inter-country relations have entered the stage of active partnership through COP and G20 platforms, and that Azerbaijan and Brazil, the oil and gas countries, play an important role in the energy transition. It was noted that the COP trio, consisting of Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates and Brazil, ensures joint cooperation in the announcement and implementation of new commitments and initiatives. The importance of smoothly achieving the energy transition was emphasized. The head of state's policy, reforms and projects opening the way for investment in the development of green energy and green energy transition In Azerbaijan were discussed. It was reported that we continue our activities in the direction of ensuring the energy supply and security of our partners with green energy. Azerbaijan is the initiator of the projects connecting Europe and Asia and supplying different countries with green energy. During the conversation, the initiatives of the COP29 presidency, including the steps taken to finance the climate, were discussed. It was noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Brazil will contribute to the realization of COP goals.
During the meeting with the Minister of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, the situation in the global oil market, the implementation of the agreements reached in the OPEC plus format, obligations and the implementation of projects on the agenda of the energy partnership between the two countries were discussed. The sides exchanged views with ACWA Power on the development of 1.5 GW offshore wind energy and 200 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, as well as cooperation within the framework of green energy corridors. Participation in the COP29 events, as well as the steps taken between the Energy Ministries of both countries on the activities of the Joint Technical Committee were reviewed.
Azerbaijan's Global Energy Storage and Grids Pledge initiative, offshore wind energy development and green energy transportation projects, cooperation within COP29 were discussed at the meeting with Bruce Douglas, CEO of the Global Renewables Alliance. The Global Renewables Alliance, which specializes in renewable energy technologies and represents the private sector in this area, expressed interest in cooperation with Azerbaijan and spoke about the possible support of the private sector for fulfilling the pledge related to grids. Within the COP29, the participation of the Alliance in joint events with the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena), as well as the COP initiatives, were reviewed.
