The next meeting of the Working Group on the green energy zone was held

The next meeting of the Working Group on green energy space, established in order to ensure the implementation of the measures provided for in the Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026, was held in hybrid form.

Chairman of the Working Group, Deputy Energy Minister Samir Valiyev emphasized in his speech that the projects realized within the implementation of the Strategy are in harmony with the events implemented under the Green World Solidarity Year. He noted that regular holding of meetings of the Working Group increases the effectiveness of accountability and drew attention to the issues on the agenda.

Deputy Chairman of the Working Group, Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Anlysis of Economic Reforms and Communication of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramil Huseyn presented a Preliminary Assessment report on the results of the monitoring carried out in the first half of 2024 within the strategy implementation. The participants were informed about the implementation indicators of the activities for the purpose of green energy space, indicators on 6 areas of activity and the work carried out within the intended goals. Development of Public‒Private Partnership in the field of gas supply, heat supply, investigation of offshore wind power potential, expansion of access to bioenergy and geothermal energy, creation of Information System on renewable energy sources, preparation of national plan on electromobility, application of energy storage systems, application of carbon capture, disposal and storage technologies, provision of energy efficiency in various sectors of the economy and in other directions were discussed.

Then the reports of other group members on the report were heard, the next steps to be taken, challenges and recommendations were considered. The tasks related to the effective implementation of measures in the upcoming period under the strategy document were brought to the attention.

The Green Energy Space Working Group included representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Centre for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, the Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, Emergency Situations, SOCAR, Central Bank, Azerbaijan Investment Holding, State Statistics Committee, State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee, State Customs Committee, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Azersu, Melioration and Water Management, Azerenergy OJSC, Azerishig OJSC, Azeristiliktechizat OJSC.

It should be noted that by the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 12 June 2023, 8 Working Groups were established in order to ensure the full, timely and effective implementation of the measures provided for in the Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026 and to coordinate the activities of the concerned public authorities. In this regard, the Green Energy Space Working Group ensures that Green Energy Space goal is met and the activities of the concerned public authorities are coordinated.
