Green energy production increased in the first half of the year

According to operational data for the first half 2024, total electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 13 557.4 million kWh.

During 6 months, electricity production at TPPs amounted to 11 525.0 million kWh, at HPPs to 1581.1 million kWh, and on other sources to 451.3 million kWh. 29.7 million kWh of electricity was generated at WPPs, 286.6 million kWh at SPPs, and 135.0 million kWh at the solid household waste incineration plant. Thus, the production of electricity on green energy sources for the same period last year (1081.7 million kWh) nearly doubled to 2032.4 million kWh.

During the reporting period, electricity generation made up 11 918.9 mln kWh on Azerenergy OJSC (10 452.1 mln kWh at TPPs, 1 466.8 mln kWh at HPPs), 224.0 mln kWh on State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR (88.0 mln kWh at TPPs, 105.5 mln kWh at HPPs, 30.5 mln kWh at SPP), 21.9 mln kWh at WPPs on Azerishig OJSC, and 1 392.6 mln kWh on Independent PPs).

In the first half of 2024, electricity exports was 444.0million kWh, imports 96.4 million kWh.

It should be noted that the electricity generation in the republic in June this year amounted to 2326.0 million kWh.  During June, the imports of the electricity production amounted to 15.6 million kWh, exports to 17.1 million kWh.
