Uzbekistan held second trilateral meeting on export of green energy from Central Asia to Europe via Azerbaijan
The second meeting of the Heads of the relevant Ministries of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was held in Uzbekistan on the topic of green energy export to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan, and a Memorandum of Cooperation on the merging of energy systems was signed.
Within the visit of Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov and Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov to Uzbekistan, a trilateral meeting was held between Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamahmudov and Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev on the green energy export to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan. The representatives from international companies and financial institutions operating in the field of renewable energy participated at the meeting too.
At the event, it was noted that the political will of the Heads of States establishes solid foundations for the intensification of Economic Cooperation, and multilateral relations develop. It was noted that our countries have rich renewable energy sources, and the implemented projects stimulate the electricity production and export.
The prospects for the electricity export from Central Asia to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan were discussed at the meeting. At the end of 2023, the sides exchanged views in Baku on the implementation of issues arising from the Joint Commune signed by the Heads of the relevant Ministries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, strengthening joint activities on green energy projects. It was noted that the Joint Working Group is effectively working towards expanding cooperation in the field of Energy Exchange and the creation of the appropriate infrastructure.
It was noted that the creation of the Caspian Sea - Black Sea - European energy corridor will strengthen the energy security of the participating countries and strengthen ties between energy systems and economies.
Within the meeting, a presentation on the joint implementation of the project on the merging of energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (Green Corridor) was demonstrated.
Within the event, Memorandum of Cooperation on the merging of energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was signed. The implementation of the document will give impetus to the implementation of joint goals for the green energy production and its export to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan, the integration of energy systems and the organization of efficient use of renewable resources.
According to the Memorandum, AREA under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan has entrusted the implementation of the functions of the Secretariat on the project to connect the energy systems of 3 countries.
