Azerbaijan-Algeria energy cooperation was discussed

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and a delegation led by Garbi Abdelbaset, Chairman of the Defence Committee of the People’s National Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Head of the Algeria-Azerbaijan Friendship Group.

The role of energy cooperation in the development of Azerbaijan-Algeria relations with a long history at a new stage was discussed at the meeting. Satisfaction with the cooperation between the relevant Ministries of the two countries, as well as SOCAR and Sonatrach companies was expressed in the OPEC+, GECF formats. The importance of starting the Joint Working Group in terms of further strengthening of these relations, implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on cooperation in the field of oil and gas, evaluation of mutual investment opportunities and realization of the potential in the field of energy was emphasized. It was noted that the first meeting of the Joint Working Group, scheduled in June within the Baku Energy Week, will create opportunities for cooperation in the field of oil and gas, as well as in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The sides also exchanged views on other aspects of bilateral relations.
