Energy ministers of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan held a meeting in Astana
As part of his visit to Kazakhstan, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev.
The special role of energy cooperation in the development of relations between the two countries was mentioned at the meeting. It was noted that the expansion of energy relations on renewable energy along with the hydrocarbon sector is one of the priorities in the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission.
Taking practical steps on the multidirectional transit of Kazakh oil through Azerbaijan, implementing the agreement on the annual transportation of 1.5 million tons of oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, cooperation between SOCAR and KazMunayGaz on gradual increase of supply volumes were highly appreciated. The meeting also reviewed the progress of work in accordance with the agreement reached during the trilateral meeting between Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan on the export of electricity from Central Asia to Azerbaijan and from here to Europe. Measures to be taken to start the feasibility study of the project, which connects the energy systems of the Caucasus region and Central Asia via an underwater cable, were discussed.
In addition, the ministries of energy of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstanon exchanged views on issues on drafting an agreement on strategic partnership in the field of energy.
