Within the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council, a meeting was held between the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Energy Resources Kimberly D. Harrington.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the long-term successful energy partnership between the two countries. The role of the Southern Gas Corridor in ensuring Europe's energy security during the energy crisis was noted and the current situation on the expansion of this project was considered.

The Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov noted that at present Azerbaijan, along with the expansion of the project and ensuring additional supplies, has taken important steps on the energy transition. It was noted that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev has strong support for reform and development of renewable energy in the energy sector. The green energy projects implemented, the Caspian-Black Sea-European Green Energy Corridor are indicators of our country's commitment to the energy transition.

The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Energy Resources Kimberly D. Harrington said that Azerbaijan, which hosts COP, sets an example for other oil and gas countries by reconciling energy security and climate issues.

During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on reducing hydrogen and methane emissions, as well as on a number of issues of bilateral cooperation within COP29.
