Within the 11th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council, the Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Managing Director of TAP Luca Schieppati.

At the meeting, the importance of the development of natural gas and infrastructures in reliable energy supply, the current state of the process of expanding the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project were considered. The strategic role of the Southern Gas Corridor, including TAP, in ensuring energy security was highly appreciated. It was noted that TAP provides 15% of gas demand in Italy and 18% in Greece. So far, a total of more than 45 bcm of gas has been supplied to Europe.

During the conversation, discussions were held on the next planned steps after the expansion of the pipeline from 2026 by 1.2 billion cubic meters, as well as on reducing methane emissions.
