Azerbaijan was represented by the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov at the VII Summit of heads of state and government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Algeria. The Minister of Energy conveyed greetings on behalf of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the summit participants.

In his speech, the Minister noted that the global gas market has entered a new era, accompanied by a significant increase in demand, and that natural gas and infrastructures diversifying supply are the decisive means of accessible, safe and fair transition to clean energy and stability in renewable energy-based energy systems.

The Minister of Energy said that Azerbaijan is a country that makes a significant contribution to the energy security of the region and European countries through natural gas and the Southern Gas Corridor. This corridor has proved itself as a strategic project that diversifies the energy supply of its partners during the energy crisis, guaranteeing uninterrupted supply of natural gas from a reliable source.

"As stated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, our future plans are to further expand the geography of gas supplies. At the same time, developing green energies and transporting them to world markets is a priority of our energy policy. These strategically targeted ideas, an equal approach to natural gas and green energy are the manifesto of the development of the energy country Azerbaijan at a new stage. We believe that such a strategy is suitable for a safe and sustainable energy future not only at the national level, but also in the world as a whole,” the Minister added.

Also, it was noted that the expectation of gas production in our country this year is about 49 billion cubic meters, and exports are expected to be more than 24 billion cubic meters.

The summit participants adopted the Algeria Declaration. It should be reminded that since 2015, Azerbaijan has been participating in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum as an observer.
