During a visit to China, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Lv Jun, Chairman of China Datang Corporation.

The meeting highlighted that Chinese companies are key partners in Azerbaijan’s green energy strategy, with interest expressed in further expanding this cooperation. It was noted that the Joint Declaration signed during the Azerbaijani President’s state visit to China in April this year promotes active collaboration in renewable energy and the development of global clean energy partnerships. The significance of agreements signed with Chinese companies, including China Datang Overseas Investment Co. Ltd, in the renewable energy sector was emphasized.

Discussions covered Azerbaijan’s green energy projects, the development of offshore wind energy, the implementation of solar power plant projects within the framework of cooperation with the company, and potential areas for further collaboration. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency and China Datang Overseas Investment Co. Ltd for cooperation in developing the green energy corridor. The Memorandum aims to ensure the safe integration of electricity generated from renewable energy sources into the grid and to facilitate its reliable and stable transmission. Under the agreement, cooperation will focus on leveraging China Datang Overseas Investment Co. Ltd’s technical expertise and the involvement of experienced Chinese companies in system studies for grid development, as well as the design, engineering, and construction management of HVDC projects, with technical and financial support.

The meeting also marked the launch of a training program for Azerbaijan’s energy sector specialists. The program aims to provide exposure to advanced practices in grid management, submarine cable projects, floating solar technologies, and battery energy systems. It includes practical excursions and visits to various energy facilities.
